Welcome, friend!

I’m Jenny

and this is

Rosemary & Salt

You formed my innermost being, shaped my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb. Psalms 139:13 TPT

Rosemary and Salt is rooted in the belief that each person is beautifully designed by God and we are whole beings-mind, body, and spirit. This truth is to be handled with care and intention.

Throughout history, rosemary has signified remembrance. Biblically, salt represents preservation and new beginnings. It is my mission, as I continue to learn and process alongside you, to bring recall to God’s design for pregnancy and birth; to preserve goodness and redefine how our culture views the perinatal season of a woman’s life; and to celebrate each new beginning with you and your family. Wherever and however these new beginnings take place.

In our present day and culture, we are at least a few generations removed from birth and postpartum being a communal experience where other women are present to simply care for the mother, and offer wisdom and education. Each mother should be given the opportunity to receive this kind of care and given the space to have autonomy in each decision that is made about her experience. No matter what that looks like for you, I’m here to provide support and encouragement. Through the ups, the downs, the plans that come to fruition, and the plans that go awry, my hope and prayer is that along this journey, you will find deeper trust in your Creator and how you were created.

Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the One he has sent.” John 6:29 NLT

For almost a decade, I have worked as a hairstylist, where I’ve gotten to serve a wonderful and diverse clientele. I also have the joy of providing respite care for family friends, in which I get to spend time with and care for a young woman with down syndrome. Other outlets in which I serve my local community are through my husband and I’s church. I have the honor and privilege of being a part of next generation ministries where I serve as a volunteer leader for our youth group and by being a small group leader for our kids’ church program. I am also the head interior designer for our church and am grateful to be a part of our worship team as well, playing the drums. For most of my adult life; however, I have been passionate about learning about pregnancy and birth, finding interest in hearing women’s birth stories, listening to birth podcasts for fun, and even taking a couple online birth education classes long before becoming a doula was in my line of sight.

For God will never give you the spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7 TPT

My sweet, farming husband and I live rurally and love the quiet lifestyle. While at home together, we find ourselves experimenting with new recipes, spending time outside, watching a movie, or while he does a crossword puzzle, I enjoy reading. While I tend to go on walks without my dear husband, we do enjoy biking around together when the weather permits. We’re thankful for our church family and enjoy being a part of next generation ministries. Our families and friends mean the world to us and we’re thankful to be in close proximity to several of our loved ones. Above all, it is Jesus and my relationship with Him that sustains and fills me.
